Follow these steps to replace keyboard module for HP Spectre x360 13-aw0000 Convertible PC:
- Removal
- Before you begin: Remove the base enclosure, battery, wireless WAN module if installed, M.2 solid state drive, left speaker module, right speaker module, fingerprint reader board, touchpad board, audio and power button board, heat sink and fan module, system board, IR sensor board and display panel assembly.
- Steps
- Peel back the strips of adhesive foil that partially cover the right and left keyboard support brackets.
- Peel back the strip of black adhesive tape that partially covers the left keyboard support bracket.
- Remove the three P000 Phillips-head screws that secure the left keyboard support bracket to the top cover.
- Remove the left keyboard support bracket and reserve it for later replacement.
- Next, remove the five P000 Phillips-head screws that secure the middle keyboard support bracket to the top cover.
- Remove the middle keyboard support bracket and reserve it for later replacement.
- Remove the three P000 Phillips-head screws that secure the right keyboard support bracket to the top cover.
- Remove the right keyboard support bracket and reserve it for later replacement.
- Peel back the keyboard ribbon cable from the mylar backing of the backlight.
- Carefully peel up the backlight that covers the keyboard module.
- Using a marker, make marks next to each of the forty-two screws that secure the keyboard to the top cover for later replacement.
- Remove the forty-two P000 Phillips-head screws that secure the keyboard to the top cover.
- Lift up the keyboard module and remove it.

- Place the keyboard module over its cutouts and alignment pins on the top cover.
- Replace the forty-two P000 Phillips-head screws that secure the keyboard module to the top cover.
- Replace the backlight, with the mylar backing face-up, over the keyboard module on the top cover.
- Align the right keyboard support bracket with the alignment pins on the top cover.
- Replace the three P000 Phillips-head screws that secure the right keyboard bracket to the keyboard and top cover.
- Align the middle keyboard support bracket with the alignment pins on the top cover.
- Replace the five P000 Phillips-head screws that secure the middle keyboard support bracket to the keyboard and top cover.
- Align the left keyboard support bracket with the alignment pins on the top cover.
- Replace the three P000 Phillips-head screws that secure the left keyboard support bracket to the keyboard and top cover.
- Press down on the strip of black adhesive tape to reattach it to the left keyboard support bracket
- Press down on the strips of adhesive foil to reattach them to the right and left keyboard support brackets.
- Press down on the keyboard ribbon cable to reattach it to the mylar backing of the backlight.
